CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) RESPONSE & INFORMATION

As we all navigate Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Iowa Land Records team is dedicated to continuing to provide high quality customer service for our e-submission customers and portal users. During this time, we’ll be communicating with counties to report any office closures or potential service disruptions to customers of the Iowa county recorders.

E-Submission & Portal Services Continue Without Disruption

The Iowa Land Records team is open for business, and we are taking steps to protect our team and make sure e-submission remains up and running.  We’re doing our best to adhere to all recommendations put forth by the CDC and IDPH, and therefore do not anticipate any disruption in our ILR operations.

One step you can take to ensure you and your staff are safe during this time is to submit documents electronically through e-submission. To become an e-submission customer, submit an application here. If you are searching for a document, try searching online here.

If you have questions or concerns, you can continue to connect with the ILR support team by emailing or submitting a contact form. A member of our team will work to address your issues in a timely manner. If you call our support line and there is no answer, please leave a message and someone will return your call as soon as possible.

County Recorders Are Still Processing Documents

Iowa County Recorders continue to provide services, even when the courthouse doors are closed. Mail is being received and processed. Most counties have set up drop boxes to receive paper documents for recording or other processing. Electronically submitted documents are being recorded.

Counties are starting to open back up to the public. Approximately 65 of the 99 counties now report that they are open to visitors with some restrictions. Some are providing access to their offices by appointment only and others are open to the public with health screenings or other precautions in place. Many counties continue to help with land record searches over the phone or by email. Some are emailing certain documents upon request. Circumstances are different in each county. For more information about the operation of each local county recorder’s office, please review the table below. We will continue to update as we receive news from each location.

NOTE:
To ensure continuity of operations, many offices are operating with reduced staffing levels and assigning alternate shifts. This could lead to some minor delays in processing, but be assured that counties continue to carry out their recording responsibilities.

COUNTY UPDATES

Updates are ongoing. Most recent information as of July 2 at 2:57 PM.

Please contact your local office to inquire about passport services and other essential services. In an attempt to ensure continuity of operations, many offices are operating with reduced staffing levels in order to alternate shifts. This could lead to some minor delays in processing, but rest assured counties are still processing recording.
